Jenny Saville, Distortion and Body Image

In my A level project I started delving into the work of Jenny Saville. Her series ‘…’ evoked me to make my own series of similar work. I used a photocopier to copy my face. Pressing my face against the cold glass meant that my face was distorted and squashed. I wan’t to create the odd shapes and colours like in Saville’s work.

The warmth of my breath was fogging up the cold glass which made the vision of my face more distant from the viewer. It reminds you that there is still a piece of glass between you and the face.

The hair streamed across the glass gives texture and colour to the piece a long with the bright pink nail polish
